Don’t Be So Nose-y!

I don’t mean that in a “mind your own business” kind of way.  I’m talking about how to make your nose look, well, not so “nose-y”!  It seems that most people would like their nose to appear smaller and/or straighter.  It’s probably fine and I doubt most people notice the flaws that you see in yourself.  But hey, if you’re going to put on makeup because it makes you feel better then you may as well add a little nose job with a makeup brush while you’re at it!  Now, be forewarned that just like a surgical nose job, it’s going to look worse before it gets better!  Don’t let the graphic image below scare you.  Trust me, it will be worth it in the end.

I cropped this image to just show the nose because I’m not going to get into full face highlighting and contouring right now.  Baby steps.  Nose job today, full facelift another day!  For now let’s talk about how to slim that schnoz! Read More

Genie In A [Mascara] Bottle

I often get asked if I am wearing false eyelashes.  The answer is… nope!  They’re real!  Want to know my secret?  It’s mascara by Too Faced called Better Than False Lashes Nylon Extension System.  This stuff is magical!  One day when I was ordering it online, I noticed that its review scores were low.  Wait.  What?!  How could a magical mascara genie in a bottle not score off the charts high?!  I read through some of the reviews and found that most of them had a common complaint, which was that their top and bottom lashes were sticking together.  I had recommended this product some friends so I asked them what they thought of it. Sure enough they had the same complaint.  Knowing this has inspired me to demonstrate how I use this product in hopes that it will work magic for you too!  The process I use involves several steps and few different products so it’s not something most people are going to want to do on a daily basis.  But it’s great for times when you want the look of dramatic lashes without the drama of gluing on falsies!  Here goes:

Hi there!

Hi there! Welcome to Twirly Skirt!  As a former model and lifelong princess-wanna-be, I have always been a beauty junkie!  Friends, family and even strangers are constantly asking me for advice on products and techniques.  I decided that a blog and YouTube Channel would be the perfect way to share my knowledge with them as well as any other beauty junkies (like me!) who enjoy trolling the internet in search of great tips and tricks.  If you have something to add, please chime in with comments or contact me using the form on the “About” page.  I would love for you to play along so that I can learn from you!

Other randomness about me…  I live with with my hubby, three kiddos, a giant furball, and lots and lots of flowers.  I am a shopaholic. If there is a recovery program for that, I don’t want to know about it!  I am also addicted to social media.  Instead of watching TV, I watch YouTube.  I could get lost in blogs, Instagram or Pinterest for hours.  Other obsessions include photography and travel.  I am in love with summer, music and vodka.  I collect journals even though I don’t write in them, antique books even though I don’t read them, and school supplies even though I don’t go to school.  I do read books, just not the antique ones…I buy those because they’re pretty.  I am infatuated with tiaras like a three year old.  I am highly energetic but super laid back.  My favorite shoes are sparkly stilettos but I get excited to wear cowboy boots a couple of times a year.  I change purses and phone cases to match my outfits.  I am happiest when I make people laugh.  I am intoxicated by words.  My family and friends mean the world to me.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little bit.  I hope to see you around here and all of my social media sites (links at the top of the home page) so that I can get to know you too.  Let’s be friends!
